The House party: Happy Easter

Happy Easter (if you’re celebrating it).

Tim Hortons has opened up near me and I confess, I had no idea what it was until I did a bit of research, but I love anything novelty so on day two of its grand opening my husband and I were through its red doors (along with the rest of Thanet).

The coffee is great and its all-day opening hours appeal to me very much, but the food I could take or leave.

If you only do one thing this week then let it be watching Finding Michael on Disney Plus.

finding michael review

Finding Michael follows Spencer Mathews, the ex Made in Chelsea star (side note, I can’t wait for Made in Chelsea to start back up again) on an expedition to Everest in search of his brother’s body, Michael Spencer, who died on the mountain in 1999. It’s a spine-tingling, tear-jerking documentary and one I urge, urge, urge you to watch.

Over the course of two days straight, I finished – now I know this is a big statement – one of the best books I’ve ever read, Maybe You Should Talk to Someone by Lori Gottlieb. If you watched and loved BBC’s Couples Therapy then you’ll love this book.

The biography follows Gottlieb’s experience with her own therapist, Wendell, as well as some of her patients. It’s so captivating; you feel like a fly on the wall in their sessions.

Another book I finished this week – it’s been a big reading week for me – was Think Like a Monk by Jay Shetty. Although the messages in his book are momentous, I wasn’t totally captivated; I think I’ll stick to Shetty’s podcast, On Purpose, in future.

I’m sure you didn’t come here just for books (I’ll leave my other recommendations for next week) so here are some other bits and bobs on my wish list right now:
