The house party – we moved house

We’ve left Margate.

July just gone, my husband and I turned our dreams into reality and moved house.

We left the seaside town of Margate for the Kent countryside. The buying and selling process took about 11 months from start to finish – it’s true what they say, buying and selling is stressful, but we got there in the end.

The house, well, it’s a bungalow actually, is a project and needs work, but we’re already reaping the benefits of living in a rural village. The. Peace!

I never imagined I’d want to move to the countryside, especially not at 33-years-old, but I guess that’ll teach me to never say never.

With the late summer we’re having, our main focus has been tackling the overgrown garden. Neither my husband or I have been avid gardeners in the past, but we’ve both enjoyed getting out there and getting stuck in.

As well as the adorable houses in the village we’ve moved to, the garden has also been a big source of inspiration for the interiors, so we’re going to keep it classic and cottage-y, but with a modern edge. I’m thinking dark wood, floral wallpapers and pops of colour.

I’m sure there will be lots more to share with you as I go, but for now I’ll leave you with a list of things I’ve got my eye on (basically, just lots of plates):
